1) Black, waxy soot is a major PITA to clean off of textured wallpaper. Haven't run across anything in the cleaning-supply graveyard that really does the trick.
2) When bathing a cat that really, REALLY doesn't dig the whole concept, of lesser importance is your personal safety - the only thing the cat cares about at that point is escape. What should be near the top of your list is making sure the bathroom door is indeed latched.
Unless you like having a Tom-and-Jerry-esque moment with your animal.
