I usually get these calls before the holiday season, not after.

While being a homeowner has significant perks, ending up in the cross hairs of telemarketers isn't exactly one of them. The first telemarketing call probably hit me about two months after signing the dotted line at closing and escalated over the next 5 or so years until I was receiving between 10 and 15 random solicitations per week. All this pretty much stopped once the National Do Not Call registry was put into action. For me it was a surprising success, stopping pretty much all callers.

Except one.

JAK Productions (4501 Cir 75 Pkwy SE Ste E5280 Atlanta, GA), apparently feels that they have no need to play by the rules. I've lost count (at least a half dozen) of the number of times I've told them to put me on their in-house DNC list. I filed a complaint with the county a few years back (paperwork that I've unfortunately misplaced) because they just. wouldn't. stop.

Amongst other activities they may be involved in, they operate one or more out-bound call centers that attempt to raise money for 'charitable' organizations. You may have run across some of them yourself - The Police Protection Fund, The Fireman's Protection Fund, The (your-state-here) Fraternal Order of Police, Children's Charity Fund, the Professional Fire Fighters of (your-state-here).

A little poking turned up this annual report on charitable solicitations for 2004(PDF) in the state of Colorado where it can been seen that, for example, the percentage of donations from JAK Productions to something called the Police Protective Fund amounted to 11.96%.

There's also the 'Uncharitable Charities' press release from the Georgia Secretary of State dated 06Feb2004 with JAK Productions making another showing. (Professional Fire Fighters of Georgia, 14.92% of revenue retained by the charity.)

Why go into this? Mostly for archival and net.collective.knowledge purposes. Searching the net for the most recent CID info (888-592-8181)didn't turn up a whole lot; hopefully this will get indexed and added to to pool.

A side note about these 'charities' - from what I've gathered these are "professional organizations"; IOW they do not represent all emergency workers in your locale. From the percentage return info I've found, they really appear to be raising funds only for the marketing organizations in question.
